As we head into the 20/21 pre-season, we have a number of exciting announcements for the Senior Squad. After a hugely encouraging 19/20 campaign both on and off the pitch, the club’s Senior Rugby offering has continued to develop in the closed season and the pre-pre-season. Once of the most exciting elements to this is, and I’m very happy to announce, that in 20/21 the squad will benefit from not one, not two, but a seven (yes, SEVEN) strong coaching set-up.
Building on the great work last year of Head Coach Dan Brockhurst, the Senior players will benefit this season from the addition of not only dedicated forwards and backs coaching staff, but extra coaching support from player / coaches as well as a strength and conditioning coach. This set-up will undoubtedly allow the squad to kick on this season (whenever it starts). So, if you’re new to the team this year, returning after an extended rugby sabbatical or just want to know who these people are, then look no further than my handy who’s who:
Daniel Brockhurst (Head Coach)
Tom Sheridan (Forwards Coach & Player)
Robbie Brown (Strength & Conditioning Coach)
Mat Mason-Hames (Player / Coach)
Read, enjoy and look forwards to pre-season starting properly. I can’t believe there are many Surrey 4 clubs with such depth and support in their Senior set up. This type of structure allows for great support for our Head Coach, but also gives the team the flexibility to be as inclusive or focused as needed in the training sessions to come. Both backs and forwards alike will benefit hugely from the experience each one of these coaches brings. I for one am straining at the bit to get back to rugby proper, and I’m sure you are too.
