Haslemere Rugby – Volunteers
Haslemere Community Rugby Club is entirely run by volunteers, including the catering, coaching, child welfare and administration. We are fortunate that the clubhouse is a shared facility with Hockey, Football and Athletics under the auspices of the Woolmer Hill Sports Association (WHSA), and so we have a professionally managed bar.
Estimates by the RFU of the volunteer hours per year required to run a club of this size (catering for players from U6s to Veterans) is in the order of 15-20,000 hours.
It is always easier to spread the load, so if you would like to contribute to the club in any way, for the Juniors please contact Andrew Joynson (Volunteer Co-ordinator) andrewjoynson@googlemail.com, for the Seniors please contact Chris Mcgrory (Seniors Chairman) chris@mcgrory.me.uk.
In each Junior age group, for instance, we need a Head Coach, Assistant Coaches, Team Rep., First Aider, Referee(s), Child Welfare, Webmaster as well as helpers with the catering from time to time.
There are courses which can be attended for some of these positions, and the club can provide details and sometimes organises the courses at the club.
